The Chapter has created the following Volunteer Awards to recognize and thank those who have assisted the Chapter in meeting its organizational goals.

Volunteer of the Year 2005

Donna Sarauer(left) presents Grace Strasser(right) with the Volunteer of the Year 2005 Award

Grace Strasser received the Volunteer of the Year 2005 Award at the PDC 2006! Thanks so much Grace for all of your hard work!

Reason for nomination:

Grace Strasser is now in her second term on the Board of Directors of PMI, serving as the Vice President of Professional Development. During Grace's term, the quality of educational opportunities has risen, along with the quantity. Prior to Grace's term, Chapter Meetings, and a newly created PDC provided a maximum of about 370 PDU to our membership. Under Grace's guidance, a fall seminar was created. In the first fall seminar, Grace served as a one-person show, organizing, registering, booking and executing the event in 2004. The PDC has growth from an event with 160 seats of training to an event with 250-300 seats during Grace's term. Grace's work with as liaison to the PDC committees has greatly allowed the committees to have their own identity and decision making power, while still having clear direction from the board. She faithfully has attended the committee meetings for the last two years, and provided excellent guidance.

In 2005, Grace took on the additional role of Chair of PDC 2006, an event still in the planning stages. It cannot be overestimated how much effort this is, in addition to being on the board. The event is shaping up to be fantastic, with more seminar days than ever, the greatest sponsorship levels ever, and a very high quality line-up speakers and keynotes.

While Grace would humbly note that all of this effort is part of the commitment you make as a volunteer, it is clear that Grace would be a very deserving first winner of this award.
