2008 CHAPTER
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFICIENCY AWARD

Submission Deadline is Friday, March 14, 2008

What is the Chapter Project Management Proficiency Award (PMPA)?

The PMI Regina / South Saskatchewan Chapter established the award in 2005 to promote and recognize Project Management "best practices", and increasing awareness and recognition of Project Management excellence and success within our community.

This award differs from the PMI International POYA as:

  • the competition is local and the submission process is simpler and requires less effort.
  • submissions will be evaluated based on responses to specific questions that conform with a project management "best practice", demonstrating the Project Manager ability to manage the components of the project triangle including scope, time, and cost.
  • all project types, sizes and duration are encouraged to participate and compete.
  • A potential of 6 awards will be issued in the following categories for each small (up to $100,000) and large (>$100,000) project :
    • Volunteer & Non Profit Organizations
    • Business Organizations
    • Student Projects

The award will benefit the project management community by providing :

  • the finalists with the opportunity share their "best practices" framework in managing projects
  • the membership audience with the opportunity to see how others use their "best practice" framework to manage projects
  • a foundation to influence Project Manager's to eventually submit their projects to the PMI International POYA

Projects submitted to the 2008 International POYA or those having received an award from other professional associations are exempt from competing in this award.

Nomination Procedure

Entry into the local competition requires a submission which will be approximately 10 to 15 pages of descriptive information regarding the project and 5 to 10 pages of appendices. Download the "PMPA 2008 Submission Guidelines and Format" from the Chapter website.

Submissions received will be reviewed by a panel of judges designated by the chapter. Submissions must be received by the Regina/South Saskatchewan Chapter by Friday, March 14, 2008.

Presentation and Recognition

Depending on the number of submissions received, the award will be presented at the chapters Professional Development Conference in May, 2006 or a scheduled monthly luncheon meeting.

Finalists will have the opportunity to make a brief presentation at the scheduled awards ceremony.
