| Guaranteeing Project Success
- Eric Spanitz
This "talk show style" presentation spells out
effective techniques to ensure project success in an organization.
Presenting research on individual and group manipulation,
along with proven industry best practices, Eric provides the
presentation participants with immediately applicable methods
to "guarantee" project success.
Project management is more than listing tasks and assigning
resources. The people and their interaction, as well as the
defining and managing of everyone's expectations, is the real
trick to promising success.
Because this presentation speaks to multiple levels of application,
from both an individual and organizational perspective, participants
from intermediate to advanced ability in project management
will benefit from attending. Participants will walk away with
the ability to define and ensure success, as well as continually
improve the process to benefit themselves and their organization.

Undiscovered Gold? Project
Management
and your Company's Bottom Line - John Nevison
Claims of five dollars of business profit for every dollar
invested in improving project management methods and tools
sound ridiculous. Is there data to support these ambitious
assertions? Explore the hard evidence that's been collected
and see how the Oak Simple Business Model of Project Performance
(SBM) can shed light on these claims. The presentation will
include recommended next steps for executives who want to
make practical progress with their organizations.

| Managing Privacy using
Project Management Professionals - Bob Baird
Privacy and the management of it, has become a very hot topic
in Saskatchewan and indeed all of Canada. New legislation
and directives have placed a renewed emphasis on privacy,
changing it from something to consider to mandatory compliance.
The Saskatchewan Government Executive Branch and Crown Corporations
must deal with several existing and new requirements. All
private companies in Canada, including Saskatchewan, must
comply with PIPEDA. This act broadens the scope to include
both private and government organizations.
Compliance to all of the above cannot be taken lightly and
should not be under estimated as to the amount of effort involved.
To this end, managing privacy represents a huge challenge
and incredible opportunities.
This presentation will outline the challenges and highlight
the opportunities in this field.

Enhancing Strategy Integration
&
Execution through Project
Portfolio Management - Erin Campbell Howell/Raymond Deschamps
In today's rapidly changing marketplace, organizations are
seeking competitive advantage through the execution of strategies
that deliver tangible results against corporate measures.
Farm Credit Canada has successfully implemented project portfolio
management based on the balanced scorecard and strategic measures
within the past year. Hear how FCC's increasing need for clear
priorities led to the installation of project portfolio management,
which aligns projects enterprise-wide with corporate strategy.

| ITIL: Planning to Implement
- Dwight Kayto
Every Project needs to follow sound PM principles in order
to achieve success. An ITIL process improvement or implementation
initiative is no exception. Often however, these and other
business process (BPR) improvements are handled without the
benefit of accepted PM practices. The unanswered questions
are still 'how do I do this?' and 'where do I begin'?
This session will present an overview of project management
principles being used to guide and manage an ITIL project.
In addition, the key components will be discussed. This includes
such things as:
- Developing a project plan and charter
- Use of these to guide and underpin the project
- Resource considerations
- Timing and use of milestones
- Measuring progress
- Process metrics
The session will attempt to impart wisdom gained through
experience in ITIL implementation projects. The attendees
will take away a better appreciation of linking project management
and process projects.

| Information Management
- After Seven Days, Almost No One Cares! - Don McQuillan
After information/data is created, most accesses
occur within a day or two and after seven days the information/data
is rarely accessed. After 90 days, 90% of information is never
or seldom accessed . Information is no longer scarce - but
the 'right' information can be buried under a deluge of interesting
facts and ideas. Information management has ceased to be an
optional extra; it is now the engine that drives an organization
and the process that allows individuals to deal with information
overload. This presentation will seek to set the stage for
a better understanding of the role of information in the business
environment; just how we 'use' this resource and how unlike
other assets, 'information' frequently changes its form, meaning
and value. The presentation will introduce the concept of
information lifecycle management, the shared interdependency
of information assets and some of the key business drivers
for engaging in effective enterprise information management.

| Communications Change
Strategies - Glenda Barton
During the implementation of a corporate wide
Management System, there are many demands for varied communication
styles and methods. This presentation will discuss the methodology
that was used in the OHSAS 18001 implementation at SaskPower.
Challenges that were met along the way include, varied learning
styles, demands for just in time communications, and the choices
that were made between formal and informal communications.
The presentation will also discuss the methods used to ready
the project team for the many types of communications that
were required, and the lessons learned. Developing multiple
methods of communication based on corporate cultures is a
key to success in any project, especially when implementing
a system that touches a key issue such as safety. Including
all levels of Executive and Management in the decisions around
methods, and keeping your project team up to date on changes
in direction is a challenge that is faced by many Project
Mangers and Leaders. This presentation will assist you in
exploring the many facets of communication in complex work
environments.

On-line Training Modules
-
Facilitation Services - Stephen Kemp/ Stephen Wihak/ Don Conly
General consulting requires a range of services and skills
to meet the diverse challenges, needs and opportunities faced
by organizations. Consultants and project managers utilize
different methodologies and tools to help clients develop
strategies, plans and solutions to address these challenges.
The methodologies used by consultants are based on different
facilitation services, where conceptual modelling tools are
used to shape and structure the issue or opportunity. These
services are effective as a support mechanism for organizations
dealing with complex and difficult problems, cultural issues
or the need for team building.
This presentation provides reference information in relating
to adult learning principles and graphic organizers which
will be used for structuring workshops and meeting to effectively
facilitate common agreements and results.
